Fire Department Safety Camp

The Putnam Township Fire Department’s Safety Camp was held August 9-11 at the Fire Station. This educational (and fun) camp taught kids about how public safety departments protect them and their communities. They also learned ways they could protect themselves.

The camp featured bicycle and school bus safety programs, first aid training and taught kids how to make a home escape plan. Students got to tour a police cruiser, take rides in a Township fire truck and use a real fire hose. They tried on firefighter equipment and were taught how to use a fire extinguisher. Escaping a burning house and stop, drop and roll techniques were also covered.

This is a camp that the Fire Department offers every year. Keep an eye out for information on next year’s program and remember, spots fill up quickly!
