Tom Lewis is Putnam Townships Zoning Administrator. He has worked at the Township for 10 years.
Tom is responsible for interpreting the Zoning Ordinance, which regulates the use of land within the Township. Using the Master Plan and Zoning Ordinance as his blueprint, he helps to ensure that land use is compatible with the surrounding area, protects natural resources and preserves property values.
Tom receives all applications for zoning permits and variances. He reviews them for compliance to our Zoning Ordinance and advises residents on best actions. Other duties include working with the Township Board, Planning Commission and Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA) on zoning variances, special use land permits and amending the Zoning Ordinance as needed. Tom has inspections and ordinance enforcement duties as well.
