Putnam Township Fire Department seeking paid on call firefighters

Putnam Township Fire Department is seeking paid on call firefighters and is encouraging interested community members to contact the Fire Department or stop by and pickup an application. Paid on call firefighters receive an hourly wage and are paid for each emergency they respond to in addition to all required school and training hours. The requirements include:  1.  Applicant is at least 18 years old.  2.  Proof of High School Graduation or G.E.D. certificate.  3.  Valid driver license.  4. Complete a department physical and can physically perform the duties of a firefighter.  5.  Required to attend a Fire Academy and Medical First Responder class to become State certified. The Fire Department is open from 8 am - 4 pm Monday through Friday and every Thursday night 7pm - 9 pm.  For more information, please contact the Department during business hours.       734-878-6788

Tornado Siren

Putnam Township has installed 7 Emergency Weather Sirens (Tornado Sirens) that are activated.  The locations are:  Timber Trace Golf Course near the intersection of Hinchey Road and W. M-36, Patterson Lake Road and Kelly Road in the Hamlet of Hell,  on the Township Square in the Village of Pinckney, near Busch’s on Kirkland Ct.,  Farley Rd./Swarthout, Patterson Lake Rd. near Doyle and on Pingree Rd.  The Severe Weather Sirens activation is done by Livingston County Central Dispatch (911) under the following conditions:  A) Tornado Warning has been issued for Livingston County  B) A Severe Thunderstorm Warning with winds over 70 mph has been issued for Livingston County  C) Tornado or Funnel Cloud sightings by an Emergency First Responder in Livingston County. Siren testing shall be done by 911 Central Dispatch for three minutes on the first Saturday of each month at noon from April thru October.
